“I knew the risk, but nothing prepares you until it becomes real,” says Sarina.

The episode, captured through the lens of aspiring journalist Jaida Simone, offers an intimate look into Sarina’s diagnosis, surgery, and recovery. Along the way, viewers gain expert insights from the team at Newsom Eye.

Dr. Eric Fazio, Medical Director at Newsom Eye, was the first to diagnose Sarina with glaucoma, setting her on a path toward treatment. “Fortunately, it is a treatable disease,” Dr. Fazio explains. “Unfortunately, over 5 million Americans have it and don’t know it.” His words emphasizes the importance of raising awareness and catching the disease early.

Dr. Michael Levitt, a glaucoma specialist, performed Sarina’s surgery and played a critical role in preserving her vision. And throughout the journey, Dr. Hunter Newsom served as a trusted guardian and guiding presence, helping Sarina navigate the emotional and medical complexities of living with glaucoma.

Sarina’s message is clear and urgent: early detection saves vision. Her story aims to raise awareness and encourage viewers to prioritize regular eye exams.
